Programmer Analyst I – Statistical Reporting
General Definition
Special Training, Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required
Four-year degree with courses in Computer Science, Mathematics and/or Statistics and six to twelve months programming experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience and knowledge in insurance industry preferred. Experience with statistical reporting preferred. General knowledge of programming language, structured programming techniques, JCL, and operating systems. Ability to understand and follow written instructions. Ability to reason logically, troubleshoot, and analyze data in order to meet deadlines and maintain reporting compliance. Strong communication skills, written and verbal, demonstrated by an ability to work with all levels of staff and management. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills required.
Major Duties of Position
Analyze technical specifications. Code, test, and debug programs and program modifications. Prepare technical documentation. Maintain statistical manuals. Learn and maintain the daily, weekly and monthly processes for all lines of business including Workers Comp. Update jobs, verify results, compile data for quarterly and annual data calls, and submit reports according to reporting schedule. Work closely with Actuarial and Research to ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and requirements. Provide on-call support on a scheduled basis.
