General Definition
A senior casualty specialist investigates, evaluates, and negotiates settlements of casualty claims as requested by the District Claim Manager and Regional Claim Manager. Sr. designation required. Settlement and check authority is $30,000.
Special Training, Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required
A four year college degree and/or comparable work experience is required. Legal knowledge with training and experience in all areas of casualty claims and good oral and written communication skills required. Dependable, responsible person must be able to work independently and work well with others. Maintain CE in compliance with N.C. Department of Insurance and N.C. Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. requirements.
Major Duties of Position
Handle claim assignments as determined by the District Claim Manager and/or Regional Claim Manager.
Check and confirm policy coverage, investigate claims, evaluate insured’s legal liability and negotiate (or deny) claims as liability or coverage dictates.
Identify exposures under all available policies. Coordinate the investigative process on complex claims and utilize other personnel to assist in the investigation, evaluation and settlement as needed.
Assist in the development of employees by participating in meetings and the training process of adjusters.
Assist with miscellaneous duties as requested by the District Claim Manager and/or Regional Claim Manager.
