Underwriting Technical Assistant
General Definition
Responsible for assigned duties within the Underwriting Department File Center. Supports the Underwriting Department by reviewing and handling computer-generated reports, sending electronic correspondence to agents, and participating in special projects as needed.
Special Training, Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required
High school diploma required.
Technical skills include intermediate proficiency in Word and Excel.
Must have good communication skills, both written and oral.
Good interpersonal skills, allowing for close working relationships with other assistants, underwriters, Underwriting management, and the Agency Force.
Major Duties of Position
Sort and distribute incoming work received for the Underwriting Department.
Take phone calls received in the File Center and transfer to the appropriate underwriter, supervisor, or manager.
Deliver paperwork and files to other departments as needed.
Process auto claim updates and assign points to policies as needed.
Send routine e-mails to agents for underwriters.
Process monthly reports correcting auto point assignments based on claims activity.
Review monthly salvage vehicle report and set diaries for underwriters.
Process Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and route for corrections.
Order audits and inspections for commercial policies.
Review other various reports and handle as needed.
Other duties deemed necessary by management.
