Accounting
NCFB offers those with an interest in finance the opportunity to build a rewarding career with our Accounting & Investments Department. This department has broad responsibilities for the financial activities of the company and its wholly-owned subsidiary. Its primary responsibilities include the preparation and filing of all required financial statements, the implementation of the company’s investment plan, managing the company’s invested assets, ensuring that the company complies with all relevant tax laws, and preparing/filing all necessary tax forms. Claims
The NCFB Insurance Company’s Claims Department provides outstanding individuals with the opportunity for an exciting and rewarding career. Underwriting
Welcome to Underwriting at NCFB where we excel at conflict resolution, negotiation, and finding win-win options. Our department is tasked with protecting NCFB’s book of business while working with our agency force to meet the needs of our members across the state of North Carolina. We work with every county across the state so you will often encounter new situations and questions each day. Our department maintains a fast pace in order to support our 800+ agents so if you are organized and prioritize time management we may be a good fit for you!
Information Systems
The Information Systems department at NCFB has a great blend of technology and people, and is comprised of both application development and infrastructure/security teams. It is the job of the I.S. Department to keep system applications running, to make sure that the proper infrastructure is in place, and to provide a robust and secure network.
Our Application Development teams are responsible for developing and maintaining the systems that process the company’s insurance activities. These teams are comprised of various levels of developers and management staff who work in numerous languages and tools including .NET, Java, COBOL, Azure DevOps, DB2, SQL, and Angular.
The Infrastructure teams are responsible for installation, operation, maintenance, and security of our software, operating systems, and hardware. These teams include networking, security, server/storage, middleware, help desk, data center, asset management, and mainframe staff.
In the I.S. Department we believe that a good work-life balance is important, but we are also passionate about our end users and customers being able to access the information that they need. We have a proven track record of promoting from within the department and the company. Now is an exciting time to become a part of our team as we are modernizing our core systems that will run NCFB for the foreseeable future.
Operations
When it comes to opportunities for a variety of career paths, the Operations Department is the place to be! Here at the Home Office, Operations is comprised of six distinct divisions and each is responsible for a different aspect of the day to day processes of NCFB. The Distribution/Supply Unit handles incoming and outgoing mail, as well as purchasing supplies, and managing policy forms to name a few. Our Project Development Unit works on testing and implementing new computer systems, programs, and procedures. If problem solving and answering questions is what you like, then the Customer Service Unit would be a great fit for you. Perhaps you enjoy analytical thinking. If so, our Insurance Processing Analysts process new business and changes on insurance policies and communicate with necessary parties to ensure that the insurance policies are entered correctly. Operations also provides support to the county offices with regard to training, supply ordering and allocation, furniture, lease agreements, and county renovations. Other duties assigned to this department include management of the company vehicle fleet, county office telephone systems, shredding services, copiers, and promotional items. Actuarial, Research & Reinsurance
Are you an analytical thinker who has a desire to solve complex problems? Yes? Then read on to find out more about NCFB’s Actuarial, Research & Reinsurance Department. This department’s broad purpose is risk management at a corporate level. Specific areas of focus include maintaining pricing adequacy, estimating the ultimate cost of current claims (reserving), data management, reinsurance evaluation, and regulatory compliance. Each of these areas bring their own challenges, whether it be constructing a model to project future loss costs, or being aware of global economic or catastrophic events and how they can affect our single state market. In any case, we serve as critical advisors on risk and management issues, as well as to other insurance disciplines due to advanced analytical skillsets, a thorough knowledge of insurance operations, and elevated professional standards.
Marketing
Are you self-motivated and enjoy interacting with others? If that’s you then The Marketing Department at NCFB may be your perfect fit! Our Marketing Department recruits sales people as well as provides leadership, training, and administrative support to our Agency Force. In addition, this department is responsible for acquiring and retaining policyholders and supervising the North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency, Inc. Currently, North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Ins. Co. has over 850 agents, and close to 450 associate agents serving insureds across the state. Come join our team. We have a place for you!
Internal Audit
The Internal Audit Department is seeking individuals who have strong technical and analytical skills and a strong desire to help the organization succeed. This department works to strengthen and sustain our business performance and reputation by delivering quality objective assurance insight and foresight. Audit activities provide stakeholders with information to assist them in ensuring the company goals and objectives are being met and internal controls are in place and operating as intended. Support Services Corporation (County Customer Service)
If you are looking for a career at NCFB outside of our home office in Raleigh, our Support Services Corporation (SSC) team is comprised of the Customer Service Representatives in our agency offices around the state. The CSRs aim to support our members daily on all aspects of the Farm Bureau program, from property and casualty policies to NCFB member benefits.
They are often the first points of contact when our members need assistance, whether it’s filing a claim or making a change to a policy. They are the face of Farm Bureau in the front of our county offices, and collaborate with the agents and staff across the company to provide the best service possible!
